Cheryl Pinder

Cheryl Pinder worked for the same city-based company for 26 years. So, when she was made redundant, she was understandably anxious about her future. But after taking just a week off to enjoy a well-earned holiday, Cheryl walked into a temporary position organised by ACR. Three months on, her job was made permanent.

"I was so worried that, at the age of 54 after so long with one company, I was going to be on the scrapheap," said Cheryl.

She had always been impressed by the standard of temporary staff supplied by ACR during her time as an IT helpdesk supervisor. When she found herself facing an uncertain future and lacking help and advice, she visited the agency's Park Road office.

"The agency was great," said Cheryl. "I was surprised how well I did on the standard tests. And the consultants talked me through my options."

The next day an ACR consultant invited Cheryl for an interview for an administrative post.

"It was exactly the kind of role I wanted, without even realising it," said Cheryl. Cheryl worked four mornings a week as a temp in her new job and, three months later, she was offered a permanent position.

"Being made redundant really knocked my confidence," said Cheryl. "I felt I was in very good hands at ACR which gave me the confidence to walk into a completely new working environment for the first time in nearly three decades."
