The ACR Difference

Not your standard recruitment agency

At Anne Corder Recruitment we are proud that we are not just another bog-standard recruitment agency, having broken the mould with our values-led recruitment model.

We were established in 1995 as a specialist independent recruitment service focused exclusively on the rapidly growing city of Peterborough, and have grown since then to become the number one recruitment partner for hundreds of businesses in the region.

But what makes us different – and the reason why we are still going strong after more than 25 years – is the way we do things, what we stand for, and the high quality of our service.

“Having the Anne Corder team’s professional
support made a significant and positive impact in my life.”

The way we do things

Unique consultative approach

Technology and clever algorithms have their place but to ensure businesses secure the best talent, and candidates land jobs they love, we take a unique consultative approach.

This includes meeting our clients and the most promising candidates in-person or virtually to really get to know what they are looking for, how they operate, and the type of working environments and patterns they offer or prefer.

With more and more businesses now offering home or remote working opportunities, we believe it’s more important than ever to do this to ensure clients and candidates are a perfect fit whether they work on the same premises or not.

Bespoke / tailored recruitment services and campaigns

No two businesses are the same so we don’t think a ‘one size fits all’ approach is right.

Instead, we provide a bespoke, tailored service for each of our clients that is focused on achieving their specific objectives within their specific timeframe.

We go far beyond simply advertising their vacancies and filtering applications from candidates. We deliver end-to-end campaign support, from writing job descriptions and selecting the right media channels, through to first stage interviews, psychometric and skills testing, coordinating assessment centres, and overseeing the whole process to completion.

We also support our clients with any outplacement and redundancy support needed.

Focus on company culture and philosophy

Every business has a different culture and philosophy.

We take the time to understand each client’s unique culture and business philosophies, before selecting and putting forward candidates that will thrive in this environment.

Quality over quantity

Sales figures and commissions are the primary measure of success for most recruitment agencies, which drives them to focus on quantity rather than quality.

At ACR we take a very different approach, believing that only by finding our clients high-quality candidates that perfectly match their requirements and their company culture and aspirations, will we win their trust and repeat business.

But our focus on quality also extends to how we work with both employers and candidates during recruitment campaigns, and how we operate as a business.

What we stand for

Vision and values

Our vision of delivering the very best recruitment outcomes for clients and candidates is supported by our core values that include honesty and integrity, being collaborative and supportive, and always listening and learning.

We are a different kind of recruitment service and are proud of the fact that we think and operate differently from the rest. We are agile and accountable, passionate and positive, community minded, and, above all, ethical.

Our vision and values define who we are, who we have always been, and how we do things every day, with every single client and every single candidate (as well as in our team and with our partners).

Respect for people and the planet

We take our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) seriously and have been a leader in this field both within the Peterborough business community and the national recruitment sector for many years.

Long before being ‘environmentally friendly’ became fashionable, we adopted practices and initiatives that led by example and gained international acclaim. This included our paperless office initiative that led to an international Green Apple Environmental Award, and our focus on using Cloud and online systems to improve efficiency and reduce waste (we donated obsolete filing cabinets and box files to local charities and schools after our paperless office initiative).

We have also been a longstanding partner of Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), and are among very few businesses that have been presented with the prestigious Great Green Star Award in consecutive years. This award is only presented to companies that auditors feel have successfully embedded environmental policies into the fabric of their business.

In addition, we partner with similarly ethically-minded environmentally conscious businesses, and only use products – from tea and coffee to cleaning products – that have been ethically and responsibly sourced.

Community and charity commitment

Since we were first established, we have supported local communities and charities.

We have turned pink for Breast Cancer Care. We have turned purple for Kidney Research. And we have turned red for Comic Relief.

In addition, we have sponsored, supported, and raised funds for a number of local and national good causes including Sue Ryder Care (we have taken part in their fundraising midnight walks), and hold an annual ACR Bake-Off in aid of Red Nose Day.

And we have supplied mulled wine and mince pies to hundreds of Santas taking part in the annual Santa Fun Run supporting the Rotary Club!

We also donated clothes to a charity supporting women back into the workplace and have been a longstanding member of the NSPCC Peterborough Business Support Group, raising vital funds and awareness of this important cause.

But we have also been instrumental in driving the national Young Enterprise Scheme in Peterborough over the years, and regularly attend Sixth Form career fairs, providing advice and counselling to young people as part of our ongoing commitment to schools and Peterborough Regional College and New College Stamford.

Diversity and inclusion

We champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace and wider society.

Whether it’s in our own internal recruitment, or assisting our clients create a workforce that celebrates individuals from all backgrounds and cultures, we take a lead in ensuring everyone is respected and valued.

We are a responsible employer and believe everyone is entitled to dignity and the same opportunities regardless of their race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or disability.

Accreditations

ACR is amongst the most accredited recruitment agencies in the region. Our list of accreditations include:

ISO 9001: 2015 Certification – we have been ISO accredited for more than 20 years

Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) membership – this includes us abiding by their industry leading Code of Practice (we are also part of REC’s Good Recruitment Campaign that champions recruitment best practice with employers)

And Much More…

Sarah-Jane Bond

Recruitment Specialist

I have spent the majority of my career working in Operational and Project Management roles. I first worked with ACR about 25 years ago as a candidate. ACR secured me a role at RNIB, where I stayed for 15 years, finishing as Head of Operations. Recruitment has always been a big part of the roles I have undertaken and is something that I really enjoy. When you match a fantastic candidate with the right client there is no better feeling!
Favourite food: “Has to be any dish from the Mediterranean”
Favourite film: “There are many, love a chick flick, especially ‘The Holiday at Christmas”

Outside of work

“I love socialising with friends, can always squeeze a bit of retail therapy in around volunteering at Deeping Rangers FC, running their hospitality on match days.”

Sarah-Jane on ACR

“I couldn’t have been more delighted when Nel asked me to join the company and have felt at home since day one. They really do care about providing the best service for their clients and candidates, building genuine relationships with both. The team culture is second to none, everyone supporting and looking out for each other. It is a pleasure to come to work every day.”

“I have a 1-year-old, so love fun family weekends with my fiancé and son more than anything. Time socialising with friends and family is where I’m happiest.”
Emily on ACR
“The unique culture, values, and style at ACR is polar opposite to other recruitment agencies and what I believed recruitment was. Having previously been a Relationship Specialist, I feel I’m doing the same thing! No hard sell, we truly care about our candidates and clients, and the team culture is 2nd to none!”
