ACR listened to understand our culture and recruitment needs

United Learning’s head of marketing Jonathan Allen was tasked with building his team from scratch.

As a charity working in the education sector, a key element of the recruitment process was identifying candidates with the right skill set who would embrace the ethos and culture of United Learning, which is based in Oundle.

“Other departments had recruited staff through Anne Corder Recruitment so that was where I started,” said Jonathan. “It helped that the organisations were familiar with each other.”

Jonathan had previous experience with recruitment agencies. “In the past, I’d dealt with national agencies who had just thrown lots of candidates in my direction,” said Jonathan. “They played the numbers game without worrying about quality.

“The ACR team got to know me, my working style and work ethic. They matched candidates to me, and me to candidates.”

Jonathan now heads a team of four working on marketing, communication and event organisation – all recruited through ACR.

“The relationship with ACR feels like a partnership from beginning to end,” said Jonathan. “ACR staff work hard to develop a deep understanding of the needs required to fulfil the brief as well as ensuring the candidates are well looked after.”
