Jobs Transform Lives: Why we’re taking part

There are some incredibly rewarding moments working in recruitment. Whether it’s giving a job seeker the work/life balance they are searching for, offering progression to an ambitious worker at the start of their career, or helping someone step back into the world of work after a break away. As a recruiter or HR professional you really have the opportunity to transform lives.

And that’s what the most recent Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) campaign is all about – #JobsTransformLives.

Karen Dykes and Anne Corder at Anne Corder RecruitmentIn a nutshell, the campaign celebrates the positive impact the recruitment industry, and ethical recruiters, are making on individual’s lives – and it’s proving hugely popular. You can find out more about it on the REC’s website here.

It’s also a campaign that we’re getting behind at Anne Corder Recruitment. Over the 20 years we’ve been operating we’ve had the pleasure of helping candidates – and clients – find that perfect fit time and time again. It’s something I think we can all agree is a real highlight about the job – we help change people’s lives by finding them employment that’s right for them.

#JobsTransformLives – the ACR story

As part of the REC campaign our recruitment team took part in a survey, to find out ‘what kind of recruiter’ they are. It certainly sparked a lot of debate in the office and it was great to see what a mix of people we have. Have a read of the results:

Marie, Jude and Zoe – I’m a brand champion

I understand who you are, I share your values and I’m proud to represent your business to candidates. I work with some really interesting and innovative organisations and I love that singing their praises to the outside world is part of my job.

Nel – I put people first

I’m a jobs coach and I understand what businesses and individuals need. I make sure candidates and clients know to do all those extra little things to prepare for interviews and searches so they stand out in the marketplace. I’m all about making a perfect match.

Bridget and Rosie – I’m a relationship builder

I’m committed to my clients and make time to discuss their future plans with them. I’m in it for the long haul not just to compete transactions with them. I don’t mind if every phone call doesn’t lead to a sale – helping employers with their workforce planning is all part of my job

Karen, Diana, Emma and Judith – I’m there when you need me

If you’re my client you can rely on me to get things done – I never walk away from a challenge. So don’t panic, just pick up the phone and call! I have quality candidates at my fingertips so I’m able to provide great solutions for even your short notice vacancies.

The difference our recruiters have made

With those ‘recruiter personalities’ in mind, the ACR team has always had a mix of skills. That mix, along with our passion for recruitment, means that we’ve been able to achieve results for clients time and time again. It’s difficult for us to pick out only a few of the success stories we’ve had here at ACR over the years but we really have seen how jobs can transform lives.

We helped this temping extraordinaire find the flexible working she was looking for; we helped Tracey find a project management role that fitted her plans to travel, and worked with Raymond to get him a job in a more fast-paced industry.

One great comment we received from a candidate said:

“ACR’s support and guidance meant that I finally found a six month contract as a communications manager which was not only an opportunity to further the skills that I had acquired in previous roles but which has also pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me to discover self-confidence and reserves of determination that I didn’t know I possessed!”

It really goes to show just how much of an impact a great job, perfect for the candidate, can make.

Is this a campaign you’ll get behind?

Although the campaign focuses on recruiters the concept applies to in-house HR teams too – really, you’re the ones who see jobs transforming people’s lives on a day-to-day basis.

So let us know in the comments how you believe jobs transform lives. If you’ve got any stories you would like to share we would love to hear them…
