This year’s employment law seminar, organised by Anne Corder Recruitment and Hegarty LLP Solicitors, was a fantastic success.
Held at Peterborough Arena on Tuesday 29 September 2015, the seminar welcomed 200 HR, managerial and business owner delegates from Greater Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
The event covered essential updates for those managing employees and dealing with employment law, helping to keep professionals in the city up to date with recent changes and topical issues.
Speaking at the annual seminar, Tim Thompson, from Hegarty LLP Solicitors, explained the implications and intricacies of dealing with stress and bullying in the workplace.
Providing actionable advice, Tim covered:
- the difference between bullying and harassment in the workplace, and the legal implications
- how bullying can affect both morale and employee relationships
- the importance of having an awareness of potential stressors and providing formal policies on acceptable and unacceptable behaviour
“Stress and bullying in the workplace are topics that many feel uncertain about tackling,” explained Tim. “That makes events like our Employment Law Seminar all the more useful – offering HR professionals, business owners and managers the opportunity to learn more about the legal implications and best practice approaches.”
Martin Bloom, Head of Employment Law at Hegarty LLP Solicitors, also covered case law updates at the briefing, with a focus on changes since the general election, tribunal fees, holiday pay and zero hour contracts.
“The topics covered at the seminar go to show why it’s such a staple event for professionals in the city – and why it has been for 18 years now. Year on year we’re seeing more attendees, it’s great to see it’s popularity continue to grow,” said Anne Corder.
