Peter Smith: From ‘A’ levels to regional territory manager
Peter Smith had just completed his A Levels at Bushfield Community College when he walked into ACR’s offices in 2010. He realised that further education wasn’t the right path for him. After hearing about ACR through family contacts, Peter got in touch to register as a candidate.
Peter’s first encounter with the ACR recruitment partners included a full interview where his skills, experiences and aims for the future were discussed and assessed.
“We talked at length about what sort of roles would suit me best and ACR gave me some invaluable advice about how I could go about building up my experience in order to make a career for myself.”
Peter’s suitability to office-based roles led him to a couple of short-term assignments in admin and data entry positions over the next few months.
ACR partners kept in touch with Peter throughout his placements and were impressed with his willing and flexible approach to work. So when the opportunity of a longer-term contract came up working with Coloplast, it was identified as a suitable option for Peter to further develop his skills with a leading local employer.
Relishing the opportunity he had been given, Peter showed promise as he immersed himself in the job’s duties, working extra hours and spending time speaking with managers from other areas within the company.
This lead to Peter securing a permanent position working as an Analyst in the Wound Care Division, before working his way up to his current position as Territory Manager for East Anglia – a role which has provided him with a brand new company car.
The prominence of his new position meant that he got to attend the Peterborough Telegraph Business Awards as a Coloplast representative.
Sam Sedwill, HR Director at Coloplast said: “We are always on the hunt for talented people to join our organisation, particularly those individuals who share our energy, drive and ambition to make a difference to people’s lives, every day. Pete is a true Coloplast person and I am grateful to ACR for recognising this when they first placed him with us. I have no doubt that he will have a long and successful career with the company.”
